iPhone/iPod Application Review/Rant

So with a recent domain acquisition I have been making strives to make more apple driven posts. Since the only current piece of Apple hardware I carry around is an iPod video and iPod touch I am limited on scope of which my article can cover. This week I am taking aim at applications available for any device running the iPhone OS. First I want to point out some applications that are blatantly out there and unnecessary as well as applications that are somewhat unnecessary if not the charge that comes along with them can be unnecessary.

The first group of applications I mentioned is those of that I find completely unnecessary, if you want to get an idea of what I am talking about  just simply open the app store and search any word that would make a 5 year old snicker and you will come up with a plethora of free or even worse pay for apps to continue to make those five year olds giggle under the same pretense. If it wasn’t bad enough to make an application of this nature, there are people out there making a profit out of it.  If I wanted to pay for a bunch of anatomy and bodily function jokes I would go get a dollar comedy at the video rental place down the road.  With the use of the ipod touch extending to many users with many different ambitions as to what they wish to find in the app store I don’t find fart remote to be an app I am in need of.

I would like to take a stab at is those that I feel are completely overpriced. I am looking at you Mr. Overpriced like a gallon of gas application. Without pointing fingers at specific apps or developers, there are several apps out there that I feel are completely worth a .99 cent price tag but then you upcharge something in the ballpark of 4.99 for the app.  I understand you have to pay for the developer the coder and other things but when a million people purchase this app I think there is more than enough cash to float around.

Here is a perfect example of an app I cant believe people pay for.  Gmail will fully integrate with my touch using imap with notifications.  Why would I ever need this application.
