Apple has put the fork in Lala. If you don’t recall. Lala was an online music service that allowed you to stream full music albums and songs for free. You could listen to the album one time in it’s entirity before you had to purchase the album. Once you listened to an album you could only listen to a 30 second preview of the songs. The business model must have appealed to Apple somehow. Apple ended up purchasing Lala a couple months ago, they left lala open until May 31st. Now lala is gone.
All music purchased through lala will be able to be redeemable through iTunes, or if you wish, you can get a refund in the form of an iTunes giftcard. What could this possibly mean for lala and Apple? Can we expect to see some type of a web based iTunes service? Looks like Apple might be heading in that direction.
