Review: Delivery Status Touch

If you’re anything like me (and admit it  - you are), when you’ve got some fancy new gadget coming in the mail, you’re excited beyond belief. You’re checking FedEx’s website every 15 femtoseconds… see image below for an accurate illustration of you.

Yeah, that’s you; it’s me too. But sometimes, when it’s 2AM and you’re gently sobbing about the whereabouts of your package (or if you’re just not at home), you don’t feel like going to a computer, or you just can’t get to one. I know for a fact that browsing FedEx’s and UPS’ website on mobile devices is certainly not a fun task on a mobile device.

But, FEAR NOT!™, as there is indeed an, *sigh* “app for that”. This app is called Delivery Status Touch. It supports over 30 various companies and services – there’s pretty much nothing that this can’t track…unless the thing you need to track doesn’t exist and you’ve just made it up because you’ve lost your brains. Oh well.

It indeed supports many services

There’s more but I don’t want to make it huge. It supports everything you’d expect – USPS, Purolator, Canada Post, UPS, FedEx, Aramex, and the postal authorities of various other nations in the EMS system, but it also includes support for getting order statuses from places like Apple, Amazon, Adobe, etc.

Oh look, someone just sent me a MacBook Pro for no reason at all!

This is a delivery screen. Fairly simple but very powerful – it allows you to look at where your package is on a map (for if you just can’t wait and want to run there or something), to send the tracking number to someone (useful if you’re a thief or something), or if you like making your eyes bleed, you can view the real courier’s site.

Associated product plug: There is a very, very nice dashboard widget made by these same folks. I suggest you go download that too.

Overall, it’s a really fantastic app, I just have one gripe… I think whether you buy this or not is going to depend mostly on how willing you are to splurge on App Store apps. This app costs $4.99, and while it is very useful, I think that’s kind of a high price. There are free alternatives, or cheaper alternatives (such as “Posted”, at 99¢).

However, this is still an excellent app, and it gets the Grumpy Annoying Guy (<- me) stamp of approval, along with a rating from The Mac Universe of 4.5/5.
