Apple Releases iOS 4.0.1; Possible Silent Recall?

Apple has rather quietly released iOS 4.0.1. This issue mainly addresses the big ol’ problem with that fancy iPhone 4- the signal issues. Apple has recalculated the signal algorithms (this is getting too sciencey) and adjusted the appearance of the signal bars in an attempt to reduce issues with that little gap in the iPhone 4 that is causing so many issues with dissatisfied iPhone buyers.

However, there have also been reports that Apple has been issuing AppleCare replacement iPhones that seem slightly different than other iPhone 4s. The stainless steel band is thought to feel less “matte”, and overall a different feel than original iPhone 4s. Also, proximity sensor issues are thought to be fixed in this new revision of the iPhone 4. So far, there have been limited reports of this new iPhone revision.
