We’ve just received a tip that Apple might be gearing up to hold the annual iPod event next week. Apple usually holds a back to school or “music” event around this time every year to kick things off for the new school year. These events usually focus on iPods, iPod Touches, lately the iPhone, but I’m not sure if Apple will be touching much on the iPhone since Steve Jobs announced they will be having an iPhone conference in September.
Rumor has it we’ll see new iPod touches with a front and back facing camera, possible GSM radio for data w/ micro SD slot, and a faster-probably-A4-processor. I don’t think there will be any retina displays this year. Maybe next year, or the year after that, once cost comes down on the displays.
Other rumors are that Steve will unveil a new chunkier touch screen iPod nano and or iPod Classic. There’s also talk of iWork and iLife 10 being announced as well.
We’ll have the dates and the coverage as things unfold.
