Apple announced earlier today that the next revision of OS X, Mountain Lion, will be released tomorrow afternoon, July 25th, 2012. Apple CEO, Tim Cook made the announcement during the 2012 third quarter earnings call today.
Apple ended up pulling in a cool $35 billion, which is up from $28.6 billion just a year ago. Apple sold 26.0 million iPhones, which indicates 28 percent growth from last years quarter and they also sold 17.0 million iPads during the quarter, an 84 percent unit increase over the year-ago quarter. As for Macs, Apple ended up selling 4.0 million Macs during the quarter, a two percent increase over last years quarter. Apple also sold 6.8 million iPods, which sadly ended up being a 10 percent decline from the 2011 quarter.
You will be able to get Mountain Lion in the Mac App Store for a cool, crisp, Jackson. $20 bucks for a new OS update is pretty great if you ask me. We’ll have the announcement once it hits the store.
